The Local Government and Project Management Department is for formulation of financial management policies and overseeing financial management systems in Local Authorities. The main functions of the Local Government Department include inter-alia ensuring timely preparation of financial statements in line with relevant accounting standards and guidelines to enhance transparency and accountability in the use of public resources and facilitating the development of capacity in public financial management (PFM) at local government level in order to enhance prudent financial management of public resources in Local Authorities.
